Sherlock Holmes takes to the stage for the sake of a beleaguered actress
Sherlock Holmes can tell the woman pacing outside of 221B Baker Street is an actress. She mutters to herself and practices gestures in preparation for her meeting with the world-famous detective. It’s a matter of life, death, and theater. Flora Adler has come on behalf of her father—the American impresario Florenz Adler, who turned Times Square into a circus, staged Wagner in the Grand Canyon, and has come to England to rebuild Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. This last is a magnificent dream, but anonymous threats have turned it into a nightmare.
A series of notes adorned with quotations from the Bard suggest that something terrible will happen at the venue’s inaugural performance, when none other than Queen Victoria will be in attendance. To save queen and country, as well as the English stage, Holmes is taking on Shakespeare.

Barry Day certainly has found a niche in writing stories with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. The story was well done and a quick read. I do think that continuing the great detective's stories are a wonderful and creative story device.Product details

Sherlock Holmes and the Shakespeare Globe Murders edition by Barry Day Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Great read
I give it an A for effort, but a D for not capturing the nuances of the language of the Victorian era. A bit predictable, but still a fun read. Overall I give it a C+.
An entertaining way to pass a few hours.
A good Holmesian story. The period is accurate, the dialogue is authentic and the relationship between Holmes and Watson true to Doyle? Chance a good read, you won't regret it.
I approach these new Sherlock Holmes tales with trepidation but always read them. I was pleased with the overall story even though the plot was overly endowed with lost children. The Shakespeare setting was fun.
Although some plot elements seem a bit thin, it is well enough written, although it does seem to drag on a bit in places. Holmes and Watson are in character and the dialog is realistic. There is a lot of interesting historical detail about the Globe theater and Shakespeare stage performance and it is very heavy on Shakespearean references in general, with seemingly most pages containing allusions to his works. Fans of the Bard should eat it up.
I enjoyed reading this book. At certain times I even forgot it was not written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. And... I learned a lot about Shakespeare!
